Intro The recipes and ramblings of a senior college student and their cooking adventures.
To follow in the journal below will be a somewhat accurate chronicle of the cooking successes (and amusing failures) of a college student who's had to cook their way around the often-over priced meal plans and grocery stores of Northern New Jersey.
This week's adventure:
Sheppard's Pie!
I remember having this when I was really, really, little and liking it. The memory is probably very skewed, as they tend to get, but I've come to trust my stomach/long term memory connection over the years. The recipe template I'll be using is from The Fannie Farmer Cookbook, 12th Edition, which belonged to one of two beloved Great Aunts. It's a typical story, I suppose. I have no reason to believe either of them ever made the dish personally--the memory I have comes from dinner with a very Irish family, former tax clients of my mothers.
Update with recipe and first attempt soon! |
